Continue AI is an open-source AI code assistant and autonomous agent designed to help developers write, edit, test, and debug software directly from their IDE. It functions as a powerful, free, and highly customizable alternative to services like GitHub Copilot.

Unlike closed-source extensions, Continue allows you to choose your Large Language Models (LLMs). You can use cloud-based models (such as Claude or OpenAI) or strictly run private, local models on your machine (via tools like Ollama) to maintain data privacy.
